Benji's about me
Q 1. What are your talents ?
One of my talents is having the ability to use both sides of my brain. That is characterized as being proficient in both analytical and creative aspects of life. I used to focus mainly on the artistic skills I had, because I enjoyed drawing and creating things. As I got older, I realized that technical things were important as well, and even though mathematics is sometimes a challenge, I make an effort to practice new analytical ideas to round out a wide variety of learning for myself. Q 2. What do you enjoy doing ? I enjoy going out to places with friends, but at other times I'm content with doing something on my own. A few of my favorite activities and hobbies are writing, drawing, photography, biking, and traveling. Going to visit and explore new places in the world is always something that I'm up for because I love experiencing diverse cultures and environments. Q 3. What skill or talent would you like to improve ? I would like to improve my musical interests, such as getting better at playing the piano. Also, I'm definitely interested in doing more digital artwork. Q 4. What are you already doing that could be a part of your CAS programme ? Sometimes I write short stories, which I've been doing a bit more often as of recent. I think exploring my own writing process would be a fun and meaningful addition to my CAS learning. The same goes for my hobby of cooking and baking new dishes! Q 5. What would you like to be involved in ? I want to be involved with groups and projects established for helping LGBTQ+ youth with overcoming mental, social, and legal issues that they go through. Even if it's as simple as raising funds to donate, helping marginalized groups (especially ones I can identify with) would be a huge accomplishment of mine. Q 6. Describe a time you helped someone or helped with a cause. In my 2020 freshmen year, I volunteered for the Alt February Trip that ROHS holds. It is a yearly National Relief effort that takes volunteer students to disaster struck locations. That year we traveled to New Bern, North Carolina, to continue our help with restoring a town church, home repair, deconstruction, and camp rejuvenation. This was one of the biggest ventures I had made with helping a community, and is the most influential memory I have of 'paying it forward'. Q 7. Describe a time when someone helped you. My brother Alec has always helped me, especially when I was getting used to middle school, and later high school. He would show me around and give his experience and advice on how to deal with a bunch of things. Q 8. What issues do you have concern or feel most passionate about ? As I've mentioned before, I am an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and acceptance, which is still an alarming issue in plenty of areas of the world where non conforming people have their wellbeing and lives threatened. I am also passionate about the topic of counter-culture history, which encompasses a lot of things that are interesting to me. Q 9. What would you like to learn more about ? Academically speaking, I want to learn about animal behavior and natural environments. I also think human psychology is intriguing and want to focus myself on sociology. Q 10. What have you always wanted to try but haven't ? Making a YouTube video/channel, completing a novel (no matter the length or genre), traveling to Europe, selling my art. |
